November & December 2023

November was a busy month, followed by the first weekend of December before wrapping up the fall season. Our three teams went to Rutgers University, Brandeis University, and Boston College for invitationals, along with scrimmages against Massachusetts Institute of Technology and University of Massachusetts at Lowell.

Brandeis University

On November 11th-12th, B and C Team competed at Brandeis University’s Justice Louis D. Brandeis Invitational. C Team came out on top with a record of 8-0 and placing first overall! B Team also had a winning record of 6-0-2, coming in third place. Attorneys Emily Tanner, Nicholas White, and Crystal Lin all received outstanding attorney awards, and witnesses Paige Herman (placing on both the prosecution and defense) and Nethra Iyer were recognized as outstanding witnesses!

Rutgers University

Also on November 11th-12th, A Team competed at Rutger’s University’s Scarlet Knight Invitational. They went 4-4 with Talia Richland receiving an outstanding attorney award.

But most importantly, all three teams had so much fun that weekend!

After a brief, well-deserved intermission for Thanksgiving, we got right back to work! On December 2nd-3rd, A team competed at Boston College’s Boston Mockathon and B and C Team both competed in scrimmages.

Boston College

A Team had a wonderful time staying local, yet hitting teams from around the country (and Canada!). Shoutout to BC for such a well-run tournament! A Team went 4-3-1 and Odessa Sanchez won an outstanding witness award as the one and only Berkley De la Porta! Can’t wait to go back next year!

C Team v. MIT

C Team hosted MIT for a scrimmage v. our prosecution. They had a great time getting practice in against another great program!

B Team v. U Mass Lowell

B Team spent a full day out in Lowell running both sides of the case! Thank you to U Mass Lowell for hosting us!

We celebrated our hard work with a donut party and a holiday meeting where we did a White Elephant gift exchange!

Up next: case changes! We’re already so excited to work with the new content AMTA released! In January we will be scrimmaging and sending each of our teams to three separate invitationals in preparation for Regionals! Enjoy the Holidays!

Love,

Northeastern Mock Trial
